Test systems for production, designed with the product
Fermium designs and builds the test systems that verify every board and assembly leaving production: fixtures, adapters, test software and reporting, planned while the PCB is still in layout.
What we do
Test systems built together with the product, not after it
The test system is part of the product development, not a step after it. Fixture, software and reporting are ready when the first production batch arrives.
Test systems for boards
Functional test systems for assembled boards: power-up, firmware programming, calibration and verification of every interface against the limits in the requirements.
Test systems for complete assemblies
End-of-line tests for finished devices: interfaces, sensors, actuators and mechanics exercised under realistic conditions before the unit ships.
Fixtures and adapters
Bed-of-nails and connector fixtures, adapters and cabling for boards and assemblies, CNC-machined or 3D-printed to fit the product.
Test software and measurement
Test sequences, instrument control and measurement routines with limits per test step, from firmware programming to final calibration.
Reporting and traceability
Every unit leaves production with a test record: serial number, measured values, limits and result, stored for later analysis.
Planned in the PCB design
Test points, test coverage and programming interfaces defined during layout, so the test system is ready when the first production batch arrives.

Process
From test requirements to the release at production
Every phase ends with a deliverable you can review: agreed test requirements, a test concept, a working fixture, validated limits, a released test system.
- 01
Test requirements
Test coverage, cycle time, quantities, traceability and the production environment written down and agreed.
- 02
Test concept
Test points, programming interfaces and coverage defined in the PCB design; fixture and instrument concept chosen.
- 03
Fixture and software
Fixture, adapters and cabling built; test sequences, measurement routines and limits implemented and run on the first prototypes.
- 04
Validation
Repeatability and coverage verified on prototype units, limits adjusted with measured data, results documented.
- 05
Production release
Test system installed at production, operator instructions and maintenance documentation handed over with the product.
Questions before a project
What engineering managers ask about test systems
Do you build the test systems for our boards and assemblies?
Yes. We design and build test systems for circuit boards and complete assemblies: fixtures and adapters, test software, measurement and reporting. Test points and test coverage are planned in the PCB design, not added afterwards.
When should the test system be planned?
During PCB design. Test points, programming interfaces and test coverage are placed while the layout is still open, so the fixture and the software are ready when the first production batch arrives.
Can you build a test system for a product you did not develop?
Yes. We start from your existing design data, requirements and production process and build the fixture and the test software around the product as it is.
What does the test system record for each unit?
A test record per unit: serial number, every test step with its measured value, the limits and the result. The records are stored for traceability and later analysis.
